Prepare for the upcoming Exam Season

With the Semester 1 exams little more than a month away, it is time to prepare yourself.

exaMS

The exam period will start on Monday?11 January 2016?and end on Saturday 23 January 2016.

Individual exam timetables will be published by no later than Monday 21?December 2015 and can be accessed via your SUSSED account. Your individual timetable shows a definitive time/date and the location and seat number for your exams.?You should ensure that you know where the exam room is in advance.

Please note: if exams are cancelled due to extraordinary circumstances (for instance inclement weather, sudden loss of exam venues) they may be rescheduled to any other day within term time at short notice. You should bear this in mind if you plan to leave the campus as you risk being unable to complete your required assessment. This may mean that you are unable to progress your academic studies. If you have a missing exam or have been scheduled onto the wrong exam, you?will need to contact the exams team either in person at Building 37, Room 2083 or by phone 0044 (0) 23 8059 2823 or by email at exams@southampton.ac.uk.

Make sure you know where your exam hall is in advance. Have a look at the Examination room plans.?

Read through the instructions for exam candidates to ensure that you know what to do and what to expect.?If you require a dictionary during an exam, read the policy regarding dictionary use.

Completing assignments and revising for examinations can be quite a stressful time for students. To help make sure that you’ve got all the help you need or know where to direct a worried student, we’ve compiled a list of support services on offer around the University during the Christmas break:

Your Personal Academic Tutor?–?your primary point of contact?who will provide advice and guidance for academic work and progress.

Students’ Union Advice Centre?– the team provides students with?free, independent, confidential advice and representation in a friendly, relaxed environment. The Advice Centre can be found on Level 3 of Building 40 on the Highfield Campus.

Residences Support Service?– available to?help all student residents between 18:00 and 08:00 every day of the week at all Halls of Residence sites.

Lastly, the following workshops will be arranged by the Enabling Services to help you cope with exam stress. There is no need to register, just pop in at 28 University Drive, 2 doors down from Building 37.

From Stress to Success (Understanding and Managing Exam Anxiety) 9 December 1:30pm-2:15pm
