The Open Research and Contributor ID (ORCID) is a unique researcher ID which is fast becoming the international standard used to disambiguate authors.
So that we can make as much use of ORCID as possible, the Library and Research and Innovation Services (RIS)?would like all researchers at the University to associate their ORCID IDs with the University this January.
ORCID IDs sit behind a researcher’s name in an institutional repository, a funder’s database, publisher’s website or even on a Twitter account, so that?it can pull together all?of a researcher’s?outputs and involvements.
- Funders increasingly require ORCID as part of grant applications.
- Publishers such as Wiley now require it for all of their authors.
- The RCUK Researchfish system will work with ORCID from this year to reduce rekeying information.
- Your ORCID record is owned and managed solely by you, not the University.
