The 30th Wellington Lecture at Turner Sims

Staff and students are invited to register for the 30th Wellington Lecture which this year will be a musical performance hosted by Professor David Owen Norris, Professor of Musical Performance here at our University.

Established in 1989, the annual Wellington Lecture explores aspects of the life and times of the first Duke of Wellington, one of the leading military and political figures of the 19th century.

Join Professor Owen Norris, along with a number of special guests at the event on Wednesday?17 October, at 18:00 in the Turner Sims. Teas and coffees will be served from 17:30. You can register your place for free here on Eventbrite.

Wellington’s name attached itself to many pieces of music, including Beethoven’s orchestral piece ‘Wellington’s Victory’ and ‘Lord Wellington’s March’ composed by Princess Charlotte of Wales, the manuscript of which is preserved here in 网络彩票APP下载_澳客彩票网-官方游戏,.

Professor David Owen Norris is a pianist, composer and broadcaster. As well as Professor of Musical Performance, he is a Visiting Professor at the Royal College of Music and at the Royal Northern College of Music.?He is also the only composer to have set speeches by the Duke, in his political oratorio Turning Points.
