Introduction to doctoral supervision eLearning course updated

Are you a new doctoral supervisor?? Are you supervising a PGR for the first time at the University???

The ‘Introduction to doctoral supervision’ eLearning course is available and updated for 2023/24 to reflect the changes to the Regulations for Research Degrees and Code of Practice for Research Degree Candidature and Supervision.??

The course takes approximately 1 hour to complete.??

New for 2023/24 academic year: Receive a digital badge for completing this course. Badges can be added to email signatures, website profiles, LinkedIn to demonstrate your commitment to professional development in this area, to both current and future PGRs and staff colleagues.?

By the end of this e-learning course we hope that you will have increased your:????

  • Understanding of the role and responsibilities associated with being a doctoral supervisor, including progression monitoring????
  • Knowledge of the regulations and procedures that support doctoral study???
  • Understanding of the expectations of postgraduate researchers (PGRs), how these may differ from your own expectations and how to manage this dynamic???
  • Understanding of the other resources that are available to support you and the PGR to succeed?
