We hope that you will have a memorable and enjoyable time?here. We also welcome back all our existing students?at?the beginning of the?new academic year; we hope that you enjoy developing the next phase of your research!
Embarking on a postgraduate degree is exciting and challenging. However it?can also be a daunting experience for many reasons: the time commitment,?the intellectual challenge; new surroundings, and the uncertainty – which?often?stems from not having done a PhD before. We hope that your Induction and?the Handbook can?help alleviate some of these concerns and ensure that you are well-placed to take on the challenge of a PhD whilst looking after your wellbeing.
During your PhD formal?support will come from the Graduate School as well as your supervisor and?other members of your supervisory team. For many post-graduate students support?is also provided by other postgraduate students at various stages of their studies?so it’s important to spend time building these connections. Being part of a large and thriving Graduate School and knowing that others around you are sharing?your experience (the highs and the lows) is?important.
