Dr Alexandros Ntovas speaks on autonomous ships at the Global Ocean Regime international forum in Seoul

On 5-8 Nov 2023, Dr Alexandros Ntovas was invited to attend the ¡®Global Ocean Regime Conference¡¯, which was hosted by the Republic of Korea in Seoul and was exceptionally organised by the Korea Maritime Institute. He participated also as a speaker in the panel on ¡®Emerging Technology and the Law of the Sea¡¯, together with Professor James Kraska (Harvard/ Stockton Center for International Law, US Naval War College) and Professor Clive Schofield (World Maritime University).

Dr Ntovas delivered his speech on the matter of ¡® Safety/security in the era of autonomous navigation: reflections on the ongoing regulatory developments from the perspective of the UNCLOS ¡¯. The panel was chaired by Professor Keun-Gwan Lee, who currently serves in the United Nations International Law Commission).

Moreover, Dr Ntovas continues to supervise in the area of autonomous ships several a growing team of doctorate candidates, who had themselves significant research engagements in 2023.
