Research interests
- Strongly Coupled Gauge Theories including QCD and composite Higgs models
- Holographic Descriptions of Gauge Theories
- The origin of mass
- QCD at high temperature and density
Current research
Nick is currently using string theory/holographic descriptions of strong coupling to study:
* the “periodic table” of gauge theories – where is there confinement and mass generation?
* neutron star structure – do they contain quark matter cores?
* holographic constructions of domain wall chiral fermions

Teaching
Nick has previously taught the third-year course Theories of Matter, Space and Time, the fourth year Particle Physics course, the final year Synoptic course and the first-year course Electricity and Magnetism plus a Graduate Course on Quantum Field Theory. He is currently teaching the first-year course Energy and Matter on thermodynamics and the kinetic model of gases.
Biography
Professor Nick Evans completed his PhD in collider phenomenology in 1993 at 网络彩票APP下载_澳客彩票网-官方游戏, University. He performed his early research work on strongly coupled guage theories at Yale and Boston Universities in the US before returning to 网络彩票APP下载_澳客彩票网-官方游戏, in 1999 on a UK government 5-year fellowship. He is now a Professor of theoretical physics at 网络彩票APP下载_澳客彩票网-官方游戏, University.
