Professor Francesco Izzo delivers a masterclass at the Maastricht Conservatorium in the Netherlands

On 22-24 January, Francesco Izzo (Music) delivered a masterclass on Gaetano Donizetti¡¯s comic opera, L¡¯elisir d¡¯amore, at the Maastricht Conservatorium (The Netherlands). The masterclass introduced voice students, conductors, and music history students to the compositional process, editorial practices, and problems in performing early nineteenth-century Italian opera. Following an introductory lecture, Francesco worked at the piano, coaching the entire opera with voice students and assistant conductors. L¡¯elisir d¡¯amore will?be produced in Maastricht in March, with students taking up all the main roles. Francesco's masterclass was organised in collaboration between Conservatorium Maastricht , Opera Zuid and the European Opera Academy .
