Have you ever been excited by the sound of an approaching ice-cream truck or a distant crack of thunder? Spooked by a nearby rustle or footfall? Department of Music Lecturer Drew Crawford invites you to tune in to your environment, tune into yourself, and explore how you were designed to hear in 3-D, 24/7 with his 15-minute micro-lecture Emotional Resonances – the Instincts of Acoustics.

Featuring cellist Nicola Heinrich and UoS Music Department students Bethany Lee (bass flute) and Hope Felts-King & Clare Wright (percussion), Emotional Resonances was written by Crawford as part of the Human Worlds Festival's Humanities Late program last November at 网络彩票APP下载_澳客彩票网-官方游戏,'s John Hansard Gallery. (It also won the Festival's WOW! Factor award!)

Specifically designed for the large, metallic goods lift inside the Gallery, this intimate performance explores the role of acoustics in our emotional understanding of space and the sounds, including music, that take place in them, and features new music and soundscapes by Crawford but also short excerpts from Bach, Reich & Catherine McMichael.

Film-maker Nathan Thomas captured the performances and his short film is now available on YouTube .
