Policy Objectives

- To identify and contact major global health stakeholders and identify emerging revised strategies around pandemic preparedness.

- To have (virtual) x8-10 face-to-face 30 minute conversations with these stakeholders about their roles and priority areas, including how UoS may be able to help and support in the short-and medium-term.

- To present CIRU-led pandemic-relevant research to policymakers and invite other UoS/UHS colleagues to showcase their research as appropriate.

- To create a series of x4-5 policy briefs summarising stakeholder policy priorities and UoS policy-relevant research.

We will disseminate printed copies and make these available electronically on our project webpage for UoS colleagues

Policy Implications

This project will be fruitful for all stakeholders and researchers involved in the discussions and round-table virtual workshops. The links that thisproject will generate has implications that are twofold. First, local and national policy-makers will have access to leading groups and experts at the UoS involved in impactful research on important issues relating to pandemic preparedness. Second, UoS academics and researcherswill be able to advise policy-makers and stakeholders and observe the immediate impact of their research. Thus, in having a place to send new research findings that are ¡®ready-baked¡¯, UoS individuals will benefit significantly from these important new links.The project will also be invaluable to the local and global reputations of CIRU. Similarly, it will have a positive effect on the University of ÍøÂç²ÊƱAPPÏÂÔØ_°Ä¿Í²ÊƱÍø-¹Ù·½ÓÎÏ·,¡¯s reputation by maximising position in the Time¡¯s Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings(which measures universities against theUN Sustainable Development Goals, https://www.timeshighereducation.com/impactrankings). Later, the project may be the inspiration for a REFImpact case study that describes UoS effortsto support global health policy revision.
