Childcare

If your children are aged between?5 and?16?they can attend primary and secondary schools in the UK. Most children start primary school at age four but before they reach this age, childcare and pre-school options may be available.

Childcare for children under?5 is usually provided by either a nursery, a pre-school or a registered childminder. It is normal for parents to pay for childcare for pre-school children, however?3 and?4 year olds in England are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year. There is usually a waiting list for places in nurseries and pre-schools.

The Early Years Centre is based on Highfield Campus and caters for children from birth to five years of age. The Centre is open throughout the year, closing for the Easter holiday, Christmas holiday and Bank Holidays. Visit the Early Years Centre website for more information.

About schools
