About

We're a collective of critical data researchers challenging the misuse of statistics in global, social and environmental issues. Using Quantitative Critical Race Theory (QuantCrit), we expose power imbalances and biases that often go unnoticed. 网络彩票APP下载_澳客彩票网-官方游戏, goal? To create thought-provoking counter-narratives and drive real-world change.

We collaborate with NGOs, think tanks, policymakers, and practitioners to ensure our research has a tangible impact. Join us in redefining the way data tells stories!

Key Focus Areas: Exposing misrepresentations, crafting counter-stories, raising awareness of methodological challenges, and creating pathways to impact.

网络彩票APP下载_澳客彩票网-官方游戏, Success Measures: Academic publications, policy influence, knowledge exchange, research funding, and impactful training programs.

Aim:
To expose statistical misrepresentations and distortions of global social and environmental issues and present creative statistical counter-stories.

Objectives:

  1. Exposing Misrepresentations:
Using Quantitative Critical Race Theory (QuantCrit) as a theoretical foundation, the group critiques traditional statistics on social and environmental issues. The focus is on revealing power asymmetries, naturalized biases, the neglect of historical context, and the “data minoritization” of marginalized groups, including race, gender, sexuality, and disability.
  2. Crafting Counter-Stories:
The group aims to produce credible counter-narratives to challenge existing dominant statistical representations. These counter-stories are not presented as absolute truths but as contestable narratives meant to encourage debate, recognising that all data is inherently subjective and influenced by the positionality of the researchers.
  3. Raising Awareness of Methodological Challenges:
The initiative focuses on raising awareness about the challenges associated with exposing statistical misrepresentations. These challenges often intersect with issues of power and subjugation, including hidden data, aggregated data and asymmetrical data.
  4. Securing Pathways to Impact:
By collaborating with NGOs, think tanks, policymakers, and practitioners worldwide, the group aims to ensure that its research has practical implications and reaches stakeholders who can drive change.
